Somatic Vocals Aarti Jadu

AT SOULS WAITING ROOM

Workshop: Somatic Vocals

Aarti invites you on a journey of somatic vocalisation, blending traditional and contemporary techniques from both Eastern and Western cultures. These sessions use the voice as a powerful tool to regulate and connect with both our inner and outer environments. The practices are often simple and repetitive, making them accessible to all experience levels—no prior meditation or singing background is required. This 90-minute workshop involves both sitting and standing, with some light invitational movement, encouraging you to explore something freer, more fluid, and expansive through the power of voice and somatic awareness.

Facilitator: Aarti Jadu

Aarti's practice is deeply rooted in her long-standing connection with group vocalisation, influenced by her lifelong involvement in devotional Bhajan music and her family's spiritual activities. She recognised the power of collective voices to foster a stronger, vibrant community spirit. Her work as a yoga facilitator, Rāga music student, performer, and disability worker significantly informs her somatic vocal workshops. Aarti continues to use her voice as a means to revive community, both within and beyond performance settings across Naarm.
